Welcome back!
School started last month, and I have a lot to do: homework, sports, writing my blogs, etc, etc, etc. Are you also very busy?
In my last two blogs, I shared two big events! In August, the Tooth Fairy shared the story of my visit to her castle. Yeap, you read it right. The Tooth Fairy was the guest of honor. If you haven’t read the story, click here.
September was very special to me. Why? Two years ago, I published my book, “Joey trifft die Zahnfee.” Ahh, I still remember the Tooth Fairy, the tour of her castle, her frog Vitric, and the dangerous ride with the Shooting Star Express! A day I will never forget!
Mom and Dad are very proud of me. They said it is important to follow my dreams. To celebrate it our family is giving away two digital copies of my book. Yes, you can still participate in the giveaway. To know more about it, click here.
Today I will talk about our first family vacation in Puerto Rico. Mom is Puerto Rican. Puerto Rico is a small island (100 x 35 miles) in the Caribbean Sea. The weather is mostly hot and humid. That means, you sweat a lot even after taking a shower. It is important to drink plenty of water. The best one is coconut water. You drink it directly from the coconut! You can also drink water with lemon juice.
There is plenty to do and eat in Puerto Rico. But I will tell you about my favorite place: the national rainforest “El Yunque.” It is huuuge and you feel like entering a jungle! There are many trails to discover, waterfalls and ponds to swim, and many interesting animals. The Coqui is the most famous. It is a tiny frog. The name comes from its singing. The Coqui likes moisture and shady places. On rainy days, you hear many of them. Their voices sound like a choir. They are very active at night. You hear them everywhere but they are very hard to find.
Mom recommended doing a tour of El Yunque with the tourist company, Montana Explora. Dad and I were curious about the excursion. We walked a very long trail to reach this waterfall and swam in the pond. After splashing and exploring the area, we found a sunny spot to eat our lunch. Nearby I found some drawings on the rocks. Mom said those were Petroglyphs from their ancestors, the Tainos. Those drawings are over 200 years old!
After resting and chilling on the water, we went rappelling and explored more trails! At the end of the day, I was exhausted and fell asleep in the car. When we arrived at our holiday apartment, I took a shower. Mom cooked my favorite Puerto Rican food: “chicharrones de pollo y tostones.” The “chicharrones” are very crispy, fried chicken pieces. The “tostones” are made out of fried plantains. We drank some fresh, squeezed lemonade. After dinner, I fell asleep on the couch.
When visiting Puerto Rico be sure to visit El Yunque and try to find a coqui. (wink)
In my next blog, I will tell you about how our family celebrates Thanksgiving. Not to be missed!
Gotta run now. Mom baked my favorite chocolate, banana muffins! Oooh, they smell so goooood.
Remember to brush your teeth and keep them clean for the Tooth Fairy.
